Guatatuco (Kohleria tubiflora)

Synonyms: Isoloma tubiflorum, Brachyloma tubiflorum, Gesneria rhynchocarpa, Gesneria incurva, Isoloma rhynchocarpum, Gesneria picta (see The Plant List for more synonyms)

 

Kohleria tubiflora is found in Central America and northern South America, from Costa Rica to Venezuela and Ecuador; introduced in Trinidad. A herb, ca. 50 cm tall. The leaves are opposite, ovate or elliptic, 5-18 cm long; pubescent below. The corolla is tubular, red-orange, and pubescent; 2-2.5 cm long. The fruit is a capsule.
